Google a global tech giant in a groundbreaking partnership has joined forces with the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IIS) in Bengaluru for an ambitious initiative called Project Vaani. This collaboration aims to revolutionize the field of artificial intelligence (AI) research through providing open source access to cutting edge research models and datasets.

Under Project Vaani, Google and IIS will focus on sharing the first set of speech data that will encompass a staggering 4,000 hours of recordings spanning 38 different languages. This vast collection of multilingual speech data will contribute significant for advancements in speech recognition technologies and enable AI researchers to develop more accurate language inclusive models.

Google out of  multiple 125 languages has committed to support a staggering number of 75 languages that had no available digital data for AI researchers to utilize before this collaboration. Making these datasets open accessible, Google and IIS aim to bridge the data gap and form a more inclusive and diverse AI atmosphere.

To facilitate easy access to this wealth of information, Google plans to provide AI experts with various tools and interfaces.
